Jan 30 Ron McCarten 1935-2021

We are saddened to hear of the death of our dear friend Ron McCarten, retired staff member who served as Games Master, Rugby Coach and PE Teacher from 1969 to 2002.  Generations of students will remember Ron’s indomitable presence in the College, his devotion to rugby surpassed only by his commitment to the College and its students. Holder of international caps playing for Ireland, Ron coached and managed rugby throughout his time at the College, as well as cricket and athletics in summer months.  He kept up a keen interest in all these sports well into his retirement, assisting whenever needed.  The College expresses its deepest sympathy to Edna and Ron’s sons James and Philip.
