May 30 Roger Byrne – Class of ’97
Today we received an email from the mother of Roger telling us of his good news:
“Roger Byrne (Leaving Cert 1997) has been accepted by the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio to pursue his fellowship in Cardiology.
He left Castleknock College in 1997 and studied his Medical Degree in Trinity College, graduating in 2003. He worked as an intern in Tallaght Hospital, then for two years was a Senior House Office in Beaumont Hospital. He was then selected for training as a Special Registrar in Cardiology for eight years, working between Cork University Hospital, Beaumont, Blanchardstown, and Kilkenny.
This morning his training was signed off and he will be on his way to Cleveland to complete his fellowship — he will be training on MRI imaging of the heart, a very special and technical study.
Cleveland is one of the top Heart Hospital in the world and Roger’s achievement is due to the training he received in Castleknock College in all his nine subjects he studied for his Leaving.
He won the Gold medal in Physics, Chemistry and French and his Physics and Chemistry has stood to him all during his studies.
Well done to the school for your help with Roger in his younger days.”
We wish Roger all the very best with his studies!
