May 02 Castleknock to take over the Helix!
Some exciting news about the arrangements for end-of-year awards: we are making a change for our prize-giving ceremonies this year, gathering them together on one special occasion. The occasion is a ceremony / concert at The Helix, DCU campus on the evening of Tuesday 13 May, starting at 7.30pm.
The concert part of the evening will be presentations from our own artists and performers, including the soul band, soloists, magicians, dancers, orchestra, massed choir and vocal groups. Throughout the evening, academic prizes will be awarded to all years (except 6th year who have their own graduation on Union Day) as well as special cups and awards for sports, debating, music, poetry, drama and other cultural pursuits. Sixth year boys and their parents are also welcome to attend, of course.
The event will also be an effort to raise funds for our eight 5th year students to bring to the Leprosy school in Ethiopia in June. There will be an opportunity parents and family members to make a donation and the 5th year students will be running a raffle in the interval.
The evening promises to be a most enjoyable showcase of talent displaying hard work and progress during the year. The highlight will undoubtedly be the massed choir of over 130 boys accompanied by orchestra of over 50 players. You'll also be able to see the U19 Irish Dancing World Champion on stage.
We will be arranging transport for all performers directly to the venue on the day and will provide more detail about this nearer the time. The PRA has agreed to help out with these logistics. Please keep the evening free to attend, and invite family members to come along as well.
